Moss is built with open-source software and open data. Thank you to everyone who made them.

Data

• City data: from GeoNames (https://www.geonames.org), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Used for Your city: 7,263 cities, filtered from GeoNames' cities1000 to cities of 100,000 people or more, capitals and regional capitals, and reduced to name, region, position and time zone.
• Weekends and the first day of the week: from the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR), © Unicode, Inc., under the Unicode License v3 (https://www.unicode.org/license.txt).
• Climate months (which months are hot, warm or cold where you live): derived from The World Bank, Climate Change Knowledge Portal (https://climateknowledgeportal.worldbank.org), 1991–2020 climatology, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Changes: reduced to monthly flags per country and time zone.
• Regional day research: our own, from the public sources above and our research notes.
• Landmark drawings: drawn by us, in our own style, using public photographs only as a reference for shapes and colours. No photograph is included in the app.

Voice

Moss's recorded lines were generated in advance with Google's Gemini text-to-speech in Google AI Studio (voice "Kore"), an AI voice, and checked by us. They are used under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service, under which Google doesn't claim ownership of the audio it generates for us, and within Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.
